Yumpin’ Yimminy! The day has come! Today we leave for China to begin the journey of our lifetime and our children’s’ lifetime. We are very nervous, scared, and excited. We feel like we are bringing everything but the kitchen sink and at the same time feel like we are leaving something important behind. The only thing that really matters is the paperwork that will allow us to adopt these beautiful boys – everything else is replaceable.
We are leaving out of Boston’s Logan airport and flying to LAX for our connection to Guangzhou. This leg of our journey will be long. We are leaving Boston on June 22, 2005 and will arrive in China of June 24, 2005. Mary and I are traveling with our friend Cindy. We asked Cindy a couple of months ago if she would like to accompany us on this journey. Her response was that she would like to talk it over with her husband and think about it a little. Cindy called us back 5 minutes later and said that she would love to join us.
Today is going to be a long day. We will be driving then flying. Then running through the airport and then flying again. Hopefully with all of the excitement that we are feeling we will be able to sleep on the plane. We are focused on June 27, 2005, the day that we are united as a family.
We made it to Logan Airport with plenty of time to spare. We were booked on Alaska Airlines (operated by American Airlines). Our seats were assigned/confirmed by Alaska Air but when we got to the Alaska Air terminal we were told that we had to board an American Airline plane in the AA terminal (not the same terminal that we were in). We boarded our plane without further incident and made our way to LAX. We were too excited to even think about sleeping at this point. We arrived in LA at 9:25 P.M. (12:25 A.M. Boston time). We boarded the China Southern to Guangzhou at 11:59 P.M. (2:59 A.M. Boston time). And we were one leg closer to completing our family…
