The Journey for Lucas Ming and Patrick Hao

This was another uneventful day or “The calm before the storm”.  We left Beijing at 10:15 A.M.  Julie got us seats, our baggage checked (without penalty), and to the security checkpoint with no hassles or problems.  Like our other in China flights this one was packed.  We are very grateful that they do not allow smoking on the planes anymore.

We landed in Nanjing and we were met by our next guide Nancy.  Nancy is very personable and was very thorough with her explanation of what was going to take place over the next few days.  The long/short of it is; our life as we know it will never be the same.  On the way to our hotel we could see there was a lot of new residential construction.  There are apartment complexes popping up all over the place.

We arrived at our hotel; The Mandarin Garden and were able to check right in.  Nancy setup a meeting for later that afternoon to work on the paperwork and give us a more in depth explanation of what was going to happen on Gotcha Day…We got a chance to meet the other couple in our travel group.  They are from the Seattle, WA area and were here to adopt a 27 month girl.  After this meeting Nancy took us to the local (2 blocks from the hotel) grocery store.  We were able to buy diapers and snacks.

Mary and I were exhausted from being up very early this morning.   Along with Cindy we had the hotel’s buffet dinner at 5:30 P.M.  Soon after dinner Mary and I retired, we wanted to try to get some rest before the big day.
